Quinn Architects was originally commissioned by the Diocese of Limerick to Masterplan the Southside Education Campus in Roxboro, Limerick and in particular to identify a suitable location for the proposed Child & Family Centre – an innovative approach to the provision of Early Years childcare services that can accommodate babies, wobbles, toddlers and pre-school children. The Centre is also conceived to provide ancillary community support and healthcare services. The building is designed over two storeys with a public entrance from the car park and a second pedestrian entrance leading to a bridge to the adjacent school buildings. The design priorities are colour and light to provide an attractive and stimulating environment for young children and the staff who care for them.
